Description
This intermediate glass-fusing class will explore the chemistry of glass and the role of metals in glass color and effects. During the first session, students will learn how specific colors and forms of glass can be combined to create distinctive streaks and halos. Then we will amplify these effects by adding precious and base metals. Using wire, foil, mesh, and more, we will achieve surprising, painterly designs that rival the natural beauty of stone. The second session will focus on turning the fired glass into jewelry, using the metals that we will have integrated into our designs during the first session. Prior experience with one or more of the following is strongly suggested: wire work, glass fusing, and glass cutting.
