The Arts Center welcomes teaching applications year-round.

Every session, 150+ classes are scheduled with 40+ teaching artists!  Would you like to become one of our teaching artists?   You can apply to teach at The Arts Center right here on our website.  For any questions regarding teaching with us, or your application, please email Jillian Hirsch, Director of Arts Education, at jillian@artscenteronline.org.

FAQ

What types of classes are held at The Arts Center?

The Arts Center hosts several formats of classes, which include:

  • Short Format Workshops
    1-3 sessions
  • Long Format Classes
    4-10 sessions
  • Specialty Programming & Events
    (e.g. crafty hour, character hour, birthday parties, etc.)
    1-2 sessions
  • Spring/Winter Break & Summer Camps
     3-5 days in succession

Classes are programmed and scheduled 3 times per year for our 3 semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer). 150+ classes are scheduled with 40+ teaching artists!

Fall > scheduled in May/June

Spring > scheduled in October/November

Summer > scheduled in February/March

Class schedules are determined by 2 main factors – student interest and studio availability.

The Arts Center has facilities for the following mediums: woodworking, pottery/ceramics, jewelry, stained glass, printmaking, photography, drawing & painting, mixed media, dance, and theatre/drama.

Class proposals are accepted and welcomed. 

For regular public Classes, the standard rate of pay for teaching artists is $34/hour. 
Hourly rates are subject to change based on experience.

Camp pay is $30/hour.

Specialty programming is typically $128 per session.

Classes must meet a minimum of 4 students enrolled by 1 week before the start date of class to run. Classes that do not meet this minimum requirement are subject to cancellation.

WE CAN SHARE
Class registration levels are monitored weekly, and low enrollment classes can be promoted on The Arts Center’s social media and newsletter.

YOU CAN SHARE
You are also welcome to share the registration page for your class on your social media and in your newsletter if you have one.  We encourage our teachers to tag The Arts Center in any social media posts they make to promote their classes at The Arts Center.  We may feature you by sharing your posts or stories on our social media channels.

Weekly updates are sent to all teachers on staff on Tuesdays. These updates include the class’s current enrollment, and if they are slated to run or not. If classes are subject to cancellation, the Director of Programs will alert you and your students. 

NEW: You can also find up-to-date enrollment levels for your class in our new attendance app!  You should have received an email with instructions to download the free attendance app onto your smartphone.  If you missed that email, check your spam folder, or log into the website.  If you’ve already been added as a teaching artist, you should be able to see instructions for downloading the attendance app in your dashboard.

Absolutely! Many of our teaching artists also work in local school districts/colleges.  However, instructors may not solicit Arts Center students to take their classes at other institutions.

Nope! Our teaching artists vary from trained & professional artists, education staff, self-taught artists, and more!

No! Each class is provided a budget for materials which is determined by the number of students in your class multiplied by the studio fee.

Materials lists must be provided to the Director of Programs 1-2 weeks in advance of the class to ensure prompt delivery.

ACCR also has a wide variety of materials already available for use at your disposal.
