In October 2023, the Arts Center produced Troy’s first open-air gallery!
Troy Art Block is a new public art program developed by The Arts Center to create a distinctive urban experience for visitors and residents who use Troy’s historic alleys as thoroughfares. In 2023, we curated and produced 28 temporary murals spanning two blocks of the Church Street alley, between State & Ferry Streets, in downtown Troy.
This massive public art installation has created a unique destination for art lovers throughout the region. We hope to present a new public art festival here every two years.
As the first open-air gallery in the Capital Region, Troy Art Block attracts customers to Troy’s locally-owned businesses and showcases talent from our wonderful creative community, in a public space, for all to enjoy.

Troy Art Block was presented by the Arts Center of the Capital Region, in partnership with the City of Troy, The American Recovery Plan Act and the Downtown Troy BID. The panel discussion was supported by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts. The project was also made possible through support from sponsor Collectiveffort and individual friends of the project.
